Project Locked - Project is Unviewable. I was suggested to digitally sign the file under Access 2003, and then re-convert it to Access 2007. Problem
'ACCESS DENIED: Project currently locked. This project is currently locked by the Administrator. Try again later or see your Administrator' error message opening Designer/Director
Cause
Either :
1 - lack of disk space :
(particularly if you are able to connect to a project located on another file system)
2 - network quality :
(an Administrator session was opened and during that session was a network outage)
3 - project or sql catalog corruption :
(rare)
4 - lock parameter overflow :
(this case is when you fullfill all the three following conditions
- symptom happens in all projects
- 'LIST.READU EVERY' shows no lock
- you have the right number of users allowed by your license to connect simultaneously to DataStage
In this case the cause of the problem is that users opened so many designer, manager, director sessions that the lock table got full !
So the lock displayed in the error message is not a real lock despite what indicated in the error message.)
e.g : There are 4 developpers but each open a dozen of sessions.
Diagnosing The Problem
- The main question is : does it happen to all projects ?
- When the problem occurs, outputs of LIST.READU EVERY command can help to determine
involved locks. To do so, login with administrator's privilege in DataStage Administration and type LIST.READU EVERY (in upper case letters, without quotes) in 'DataStage Administration' > 'Project properties > Command (you may need to press the 'Execute' button several times until you get button 'Close' and do several screenshots
Resolving The Problem
1 - lack of disk space :
free disk space
2 - network quality :
check with your network administrator, an audit may be necessary
3 - project or sql catalog corruption
contact Information Server support
4 - lock parameter overflow :
Raise GLTABSZ and RLTABSZ both to 200 and see if symptoms happen less.
Go to dshome directory, backup and edit uvconfig file with 'vi' (or 'Notepad')
Modify GLTABSZ and RLTABSZ
Save the file.
Then open a command console and go to DSEngine (you MUST be exactly in that directory) and from there type :
./bin/uvregen (or .binuvregen)
this will generate a binary file which will be read by Information Server after you stop start engine.
Be careful to stop/start DataStage engine when there is no client connected and no job running.
N.B : There is no need to modify other uvconfig file parameter.
